Gospel Intent

Oh, what strong influence you have.
I'm captured by your words,
Mezmerized by your melody,
Ignorant to your life changing capabilites,
In the hands of those who use you;
Or maybe they do know your strength
And use that to their advantage.
Knowing your power
They take it to gain power.
Increasing their wealth,
Enlarging their territory,
Claiming to share the true story.
They move away from tradition,
Introducing secular beats,
Claiming to reach those who are on the streets
And it worked.
So now I'm convienced that the mix can work;
But to my dismay, their own life are in disarray,
Leading me to suspect their inspiration.
Was it to gain self-glorification,
Using You as their route?
Or were You glorified,
using them as Your route?
The latter is how it should be.
Now I'm questioning,
Should I be listening?
When they're hearts are not right with You?
Is it just blaspheme to You?
I want the words that I listen to
To be pleasing unto You.
Mezmorized by santified beats,
Captivated by inspired words,
Having my life changed by You,
Because I'm influenced by You.
So that when Your power is
Left in my hands
I may know your capability
And use Your strength for
Your advantage
Not for my gain
But to let You reign.
Oh, heart be right within
So that others may be blessed when I sing.
